Gameplay

The heart of the game is the chit pull activation system, which determines when you get to do things with your Units. Every Formation has an Activation Chit to represent it. At the beginning of each turn, the Activation Chits go into a coffee mug, and then get drawn out one at a time at random – representing the chaos and confusion present on the fields of war. This attention to detail is carried further – Devil's Cauldron incorporates the latest historical discoveries as well as direct contributions from leading Market Garden historians. While playing the game, we show you were actual Victorian Crosses and Medals of Honor were earned – will your troops do the same? Jam packed with more valuable details, everything that was present there is here: the SS Marching band that was thrown into the early action, Jedburgh teams, captured Dutch Firetrucks, civilian conscripts, German Police units, and much, much more! This game is the result of a true labor of love by our design team. Initially conceived as three separate games covering the two northern drop-zones, we realized – lets do it right and cover the entire northern campaign in one go. By far, The Devil's Cauldron is the largest Market Garden game ever made – and it has really turned into something that has far surpassed our own expectations. In making The Devil's Cauldron, we really wanted to advance the hobby forward—with historically accurate, detailed maps, graphically engaging counters, and the playable gameplay we all love and enjoy.
